Apple Blossom finished

Apple Blossom7

I have been sitting with my feet up, finishing the Apple Blossom - and I am quite happy with it. For a first try. It makes me want to do more of this sort of work, where the design is on tissue paper, outlined in stitching, and filled in after the paper is removed.

This looks nice on the screen, but is about twice as large as it is in real life.

Maybe a butterfly next????

I love it! I'm about to try this technique! So, you didn't do the whole thing with the tissue paper on...just the outlines? That probably makes it easier to take the tissue out...have you tried it the other way?

I haven't tried filling in all the design before taking the tissue out - and I don't think I would like to - I would be pulling threads all over the place. All I did with this one was fill in the two petal outlines I had missed, and then I pulled the tissue, using tweezers.

The real thrick with this was the outline for the petals (but not the leaves) was a rough blanket stitch. That left me with the good line around the edge of the petals after I had filled them in. I really like it that way.

And I am using some old Burda dressmaking transfer tissue - it is much softer than the giftwrap one I was using at first.
