Day 14 of 100 Days

Trivet

Yesterday we found two of these in a pile of rusty irons (I shudder to think how many there are now, in this collection).

So we are wondering if they are purpose-made trivets, or some other bit of metal that was used for trivets. Like points on a harvester, or something like that? They are the right size, but a bit clunky.

They are in the rust bucket. Maybe when I can read the words on them ...

Hi Linda,
These are actual irons. A person had 2 or 3 of them and one handle that fit into the holes in the iron. Using a wood stove, they would all be put on the stove at the same time. The first would be used until it was cool, then be released back onto the stove. Another hot one would be picked up on the handle and used until it was cool. This was continued until the ironing was done with no waiting for the iron to reheat on the stove...
